Franklin George Smith

Journalist Videographer

Career

Based in Seoul, South Korea, for more than a decade, I produce news reportage for several international media including ABC Australia, Channel News Asia, CNN, Deutsche Welle, Press TV, Radio Television Hong Kong, and TRT World. I appear on camera as a regional correspondent as well as provide live unscripted news analysis on television and radio to foreign news media. As an ENG camera operator, I work with other foreign correspondents, arranging elements of news packages, shooting video of interviews and events, and editing video reports to time-bound client specifications.

I frequently appear on South Korean television and radio programs discussing South Korean news and regional and international affairs. I'm a regular panelist on Arirang TV's "Foreign Correspondents" (100 programs) and for 3 seasons I participated in tvN's "Foreign News Avengers," (30 programs) which included an assignment to cover the 2018 U.S. mid-term elections from Washington D.C..

I am also an adjunct lecturer at Yonsei University Graduate School of International Studies, where I conduct various seminar classes on politics and media.
